The view from the British Airways red-eye to Rome via London. That's Italy below us. A romantic looking town in the Italian countryside, Is there any doubt for one moment that you are now in Italia? Rome airport - an adventure to get to the train station that takes you into central Rome ... There's a train station right at Rome airport that takes you into the city of Rome - specifically the Roma Termini station. Cost: 11 Euro. This is one place where you buy tickets.

The train to Roma Termini. Ahhhh! Getting out of the station at Roma Termini - a 30 minute train trip. I am utterly wiped out after what must be 18 hours since I left NYC. And I still have to schlep this stuff around the corner to the hotel. The view from my window of the San Remo Hotel, Rome. The 4-hour train to Fano, start of the Bike Across Italy Ride.

I saw a large bike case in the train belonging to a Dave, who just happened to be doing the tour and was seated opposite!4 hours later we arrive in sunny Fano. I was so ill from eating something strange on the BA flight I just made it to the pre-tour briefing at Hotel Elisabeth, Fano. 18 riders had registered for this tour. A plate of boiled vegetables is just what I needed to sooth my stomach. Andrea and Dana are our local guides. Andrea, 29, explains the CC carbon forked Bianchi bikes and Campagnolo shifting.
