| David Lam, BF downtown dealer in NYC, www.bfold.com, explains the three levels of security - they ignore you, they ask what's in the bag (you say it's a French Horn), they ask to open the bag. |
Origins organic potions store didn't mind - after all, I'm a customer! |
The groovier competitor to the Container Store, Muji, had a very folding bike friendly bouncer. |
Supermarkets don't care - they're use to little wheels. Just don't expect to fit too much esle in the cart of you do this. |
Failed! The imposing NY Central Library (with the two lions out front) prohibit bikes of any description or size. And packages must fit within these dimensions - about 21" x 14" I think - except baby strollers, of course. |

| The Pret sandwich shop didn't chase me out either. |
The attendant at Bryant Park Toilet block was very accomodating despite the riot act framed on the wall. "Hey, it's small, and we let baby strollers in here," she said. Bryant Park does have security guards. |
"People bring all kindsa things in here, dogs ..." Circuit City don't care as long as you roll it with you. And buy the latest Bluetooth headset ... |
Failed! The Price Waterhouse Cooper building where I was told "No one rides a bike to an office - bicycles belong outside - no one steals bikes ... " etc etc etc. |
It's my French Horn of course! |

| Lynn shows me Con Ed's secure bike area - open to the elements, but at least guarded. |
Success! Bike Friday rider Jon can't believe the tikit and I made it to his place inthe clouds at Park Ave Atrium - I almost didn't ... |
A big, glassy atrium ... friendly Christmas trees belie the hostility against folding bikes within ... |
I prepare to fold the tikit just out of sight of the men in black guarding the GM building ... |
The GM building prepares to monster the tikit ... |
