An absolutely spectacular crab cake salad at a Lake Zurich restaurant courtesy of Philip, an appreciator of my Cuba book. I played this guys guitar on the train. The conductor came along and said we weren't allowed to play. I told him: if there was more spontaneous music and self-expression there'd be less war. I stopped into Blommers Chocolate factory to buy some dark choc covered cherries and almonds, and a frozen custard bar. I think the frozen custard is better in Vienna, Viginia - it allseems a bit watery west of there. Local bike activist John Greenfield introduced met to the Asian eaterie Penny's. Heym, that's char siew (bbq pork) in the bowl - haven't had that since living at home with my parents! If I'd stuck with my day job I might be living in one of these by now ... instead of on a bike!

The stylish brownstone - you have to have a ton of money to own or even rent one. Chicago city living. An original Alexander Calder - nice use of a broken reflector etc! A mother of all koi at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Coming back form the Museum of Contemporary Art freebie day (Tuwsdays) along the lakefront.

Don Zawadiwsky and one of his three Bike Fridays. 3x Bike Friday owner Don Zawadiwsky drove al lthe way from Milwaukee (90 miles) just to say hi! 31 people turned up to my Chicago Bike Club talk at Chief O'Neill's - a collection of Bike Friday owners, Critical Mass, and Chicago Folding Bike Society owners. Thanks to Kathy Schubert for organizing this. I christened their new Dell projector! Fortunately, in many cities they no longer build housing like this. The first McDonald's and apparently the most successful.
