Long-ago cycling buddies Dan Kaljian (owns several Fridays) and VeloSport owner Peter Rich are reunited in Peter's kitchen. With Bev (Pocket Rocket Pro) Gerd ('I don't like the small wheels') at the Jack London cabin, Oakland. Getting a piggy back in Jack London Square. Oakland architecture. Monty has fused neck from a motorbike accident long ago, but has no problem riding his Friday ... or his motorbikes!

A wet Jan 5 attracted a handful of stalwarts for a Chilly Hilly ride, including Monty. Big markings tell you that Berkeley is serious about bikes. These purple Bicycle Boulevard signs are plentiful ... just in case drivers fall asleep at the wheel. Purple means: THIS IS A BICYCLE BOULEVARD - YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! A more elaborate Bicycle Boulevard sign - even pointing you to the BART where your folding bike is welcome at all times.

Jan 5, 2008: Assembling at VeloSport for theflat out'n'back - followed by pizza and the '16,000 Feet on a Friday' movie. Diablo Rider Bill, whose post-maiden voyage on his new Pocket Rocket was the BF Club of SF flat out'n'back to Richmond. History of the Richmond area nicely documented - thousands of women were mobilized to make ships during the war, led by mythical figure Rosie the Riveter. Dan (too many Fridays) and Rosemary at Peter Rich's Arabian Horse farm. Robotics researcher Jonathan came all the way from San Mateo to ride where he hadn't been before - the Richmond trail.
